Bacon Alert

Mission Statement
The police, like any public service, must be ultimately accountable to the people. Thankfully, with the advents of technology (e.g. the Internet and Video Camera cell phones), we the people now have a legitimate and legal way to document our law enforcement officials.
We can and must police the police. BaconAlert.com is the platform to share your stories and unite with other victims of our out-of-control criminal justice system.

Fake Blood - "USED" Vol.1

Fake Blood - "USED" Vol.1 by Fake Blood

I've done 4 x 1 hour mixes (and a 5th is in the pipeline), solely made up of old tunes sampled in classic Hip Hop tracks - but cut up on two copies / decks to re-create the loops / chops people used.
I didn't use any compilations, reissues, bootlegs, or downloads. All originals. I've always been a digging fiend on the side!
But - to save the original pressings (and also cos it's hard enough to get one copy of some of these, let alone two!) - I loaded them into Serato vinyl, so I could scratch away to my heart's content, with ruining anything!
So here's VOL.1.
Further volumes to follow...
Enjoy...

-Fake Blood

Messenger Menace: Hip Hop Reacts To Gil Scott Heron's Passing

Obviously, this is far from cutting edge news but just for once, let’s allow ourselves to dwell on a story for more than 48 hours before moving on to the next wannabe coffee-shop poet and cookie-cutter musician. Often credited with being one of the progenitors of hip-hop, Gil Scott Heron was a "bluesologist" and one of the first to set the stage and touch the heart and soul of hip hop. Left behind; his legacy will continue to permeate, influence and affect us.

To celebrate his life and legacy, I contacted a few artists and luminaries to reflect and remember the man and the legend. Rest in power Gil Scott Heron.

The Art of Typography

Before I Die...in NOLA

One month and seven hours of intense stenciling later and it’s up! With a lot of support from old and new friends, I turned the side of an abandoned house in my neighborhood into a giant chalkboard with grids that say, “Before I die I want to _______.” Residents can use chalk to write on the wall and remember what is important to them in life. Before I Die transforms neglected spaces into constructive ones where we can learn the hopes and aspirations of the people around us. It turns out this entire process (including official approval from many entities) has been a great lesson, experience, and project in itself – more on that later. If you’re in New Orleans, stop by the corner of Marigny and Burgundy (900 Marigny St) to add your thoughts to the wall and see what matters most to your neighbors. It’s a question that has changed me in the last year, and I believe the design of our public spaces can better reflect what’s important to our neighborhoods and our personal well-being. The responses and stories from passersby while we were installing it have already hit me hard in the heart. More installations to come. Huge thanks to Kristina Kassem, Alan Williams, Cory Klemmer, Anamaria Vizcaino, James Reeves, Alex Vialou, and Gary Hustwit for installation assistance and many others for support along the way! Concurrently installed in East/West Galleries.

Frank Sasoon's "Pulled From The Stash"

The Jeff Lorber Fusion.....

Hello everybody we're back after a lil vacation with the Jeff Lorber
fusion. This is another one of my all time favorite funky jazz albums.
You can catch me two stepping all over the crib with this one. This is one
of the first records I ever came across when I started diggin' and it
still stays high in ranking. I'm pretty sure this is Mr. Lorber's
first record, also it's on Inner City one of my favorite labels from 1977.
Check out "Water Music" and "Glisten" for your fix of dopeness. If you
don't like these I don't even wanna know you....

U.G. Solo Album Coming Soon!

Cella Dwellas' U.G. Readies Solo Debut "Portals" For May 17 Release

Ill Bill, Necro and Celph Titled will support the Dwellas album who will drop his first full-length since Loud Records folded, produced entirely by Ide.

I think it's safe to say that any head that's really been paying attention to CJM this past year
can't wait for this album to drop. These two cats have really been doing their thing and I
expect nothing short of a stellar album. May 17th!

It's Been a Minute....

...but yea we're "back".

For the people that know me, they know that I have absolutely no life during the winter. My ass is so busy with work that I barely have time for rest/sleep, which explains why the blog has been a no show for the past couple of months. I had a partner in crime that would help out a bit but dudes been just as busy as me. As a matter of fact he's in Miami right now probably doing shots off of blonde ditz's while spinning techno/house for the bronzed masses. Definitely can't hate the hustle.

So with that being said keep an eye on 3for50 and feel free to spread the word cuz I'll be updating this shit a bit more now that my schedule allows me to.

Nanoo Nanoo,
