Sacha Baron Cohen to Play Freddie Mercury

Borat/Ali G/Brüno mastermind Sacha Baron Cohen will dust off his spandex onesie and return to the screen as late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in a yet-untitled biopic, Deadline reports. Academy Award-winner Graham King (The Departed) has already signed on as a producer, and two-time Oscar nominee and biographical drama specialist Peter Morgan will pen the story. Yes, this is really happening.
Baron Cohen has actually stepped into Mercury's assless chaps before: Introducing Green Day at the 2005 MTV Europe Awards as Borat, Cohen role-played, "Hello it is me, Freddie Mercury. I joking, he die of AIDS." With the producer of Traffic and the writer of The Last King of Scotland onboard, though, we're guessing Cohen's performance will transcend parody

Thanks Joe
